Forbes: America’s Top 200 Residential Architects

Rehkamp Larson Architects is honored to be included in the inaugural Forbes list: America’s Top 200 Residential Architects! Cottagewood Gables was selected as our featured home.

From Forbes: “Out of the more than 18,000 firms evaluated for the list, more than 750 were invited to submit up to three houses, each completed in 2019 or later, for formal consideration. The submitted projects were then evaluated conditionally, and according to Tiers 2 and 3, respectively, with each house receiving a numerical score according to merit. The highest scoring projects were advanced to the semifinalist stage, before being evaluated again, by both the Forbes Architecture editorial team and the Forbes Architecture Advisory Board, using the same system. The final 200 projects were collectively deemed to most closely meet the evaluating criteria.”

“Designing Cottagewood Gables, the office’s Featured Project, offered an opportunity to revisit a more familiar context—Minneapolis, itself—and the house slips right into its surroundings. ‘Built to last over 100 years, this home has a classic form, traditional materials and details that would have been used at the turn of the century,’ says Rehkamp. ‘Resilient materials such as natural hand-troweled stucco, structural solid-wood eave brackets, copper gutters and flashing details, cobblestone chimneys and solid-wood windows all create an authentic palette that connects this home with its place.'”
