What should I look for when selecting a builder for an architect-designed home?
by Ryan Lawinger, AIA / Senior Associate
A collaborator! Building any home — especially a unique, newly designed home — can involve a continuous process of figuring things out. Plus, it’s not unusual for architect-designed projects to incorporate novel elements of design that are specific to the homeowners and the site. When it comes to problem solving, we often engage with the builder and their team of knowledgeable subcontractors, suppliers, and craftspeople to pitch in with their expertise. A willing and collaborative team helps smooth out the process and is key to creating a beautiful home, tailor made to the homeowner, that functions well for years to come.
