The new design took into account the following existing elements—the simple, low-sloped roof with deep overhangs and the clear interior delineation between public and private spaces. The addition is a two-level tower connected to the original cabin with an open link. The tower houses a master bedroom/bathroom suite above and laundry/mechanical area on the main level. In the end, this addition preserves and extends the design intentions of the original cabin, and perpetuates the casual sense of freedom a lake getaway offers.
