Project:
Larson Cabin

Location:
Lake Sylvia, MN

Inspiration:

From the outside, the house is a simple form capped by a steeply pitched metal roof. Inside, however, the elegant complexity unfolds slowly. A large open space contains separate rooms defined by a structural grid. Each space has its axial focus such as the wood stove, a view to the lake or the stone fireplace. Exposed timber beams and pine tongue-and-groove ceiling boards salvaged from the original cabin retain the nostalgic feeling of the old cabin while modern comforts and spacious vistas fill the spaces with light.
